Profile of Andrew Vilder

Andrew says
"Photography offers unrivalled flexibility and freedom of artistic expression. The camera can be a factual recorder, but you will rarely see me take a 'straight' shot of anything. For me, it is the captured image PLUS what the artist breathes into it that makes it special. Computer image manipulation is the last unexplored frontier of photography; just about everything else has been done. John, Bill and I are enthusiastically embracing these new techniques with uncertain outcomes.
My aim is to convey a vibrant, and often surreal, beauty through my work - this to me is the higher purpose of art".

Andrew Vilder was born in 1967, in Sydney, Australia to two Estonian parents. He is married to Monika and they have four children. By training he is an architect, a graduate of Sydney University. Andrew has been a photographer since 2002, before this he was involved with painting and sculpture from a very young age and has partaken in numerous exhibitions and cultural events.
